California-based Sequoia Capital has received a letter from a US committee probing investments in Chinese tech firms. Extensive amounts of information are being requested, including dollar amounts, names of state investors and more.

The US House Select Committee on China has sent a letter to Sequoia Capital seeking information as part of investigations into venture capital firms’ investments in Chinese technology companies, according to a «Bloomberg» report.

«We’ve received the letter, are reviewing it and will respond,» said a spokesperson for Sequoia Capital in a statement.

Information Request

The congressional committee is requesting information on Sequoia’s investments in artificial intelligence, semiconductor and quantum computing companies. This includes the dollar amounts invested, business expertise provided to the companies, investment criteria and the names of Chinese government investors.

The probe is also seeking information about Sequoia’s recently announced split into three firms, with its China unit rebranded as HongShan.
