CEO Tidjane Thiam has gotten involved in the case of an ex-Credit Suisse banker who says she was assaulted by her boss. The alleged perpetrator still works for the Swiss bank.
The Zurich-based bank has launched an internal probe into an alleged 2010 assault by a Credit Suisse middle manager, after a London-based female banker wrote to CEO Tidjane Thiam alleging she had been victimized, according to a «Bloomberg» report.
The Swiss bank has launched two probes into the incident: one led by top regulatory officer Lara Warner and another into why Thiam didn't receive the alleged victim's letter until roughly two months after it was sent to him, a spokesman for Credit Suisse said.
No Measures
While the female banker left the bank at some point after the 2010 incident, her former boss is still in his job. The bank said London's Metropolitan Police investigated the matter in 2010 and again one year later due to fresh evidence, but didn't bring charges. Credit Suisse also investigated in 2010, without enforcing disciplinary measures.
«Credit Suisse has always treated allegations regarding harassment or assault with the utmost seriousness, and considers that it has a robust investigation and disciplinary framework in place to deal with them as and when they arise,» the bank said. «However, any lessons learned from this review by the group conduct and ethics board will form part of that framework going forward,» the bank said in a statement.
