London-based Barclays’ Asia business recorded higher income in the first half of 2023, in line with the global business.
Barclays has recorded 716 million British pounds ($930 million) of income in Asia in the first half of 2023, according to the bank’s financial results, up 4 percent year-on-year.
Globally, income grew 2 percent higher to 13.5 billion pounds. Overall, pre-tax profits at the British lender grew 22 percent to 4.6 billion pounds.
Previously, Asia head of markets Hossein Zaimi called the first three months of 2023 Barclays' best quarter ever in the region, with global markets revenue doubling.
