Amongst all banks globally, Zurich-based UBS was ranked at the top in terms of profit per employee, according to a report.

At $242,085, UBS generated the most profit per employee within the banking industry, according to a report by BestBrokers.com. The Swiss lender had a net income of $27.8 billion with over 115,000 workers as of end-2023.

Saudi Arabia’s Al Rajhi Bank ranked second ($212,296 generated per employee) followed by Goldman Sachs ($174,547), China Merchants Bank ($173,098) and JPMorgan Chase ($159,883).

Global Financial Leader

Within the broader financial sector, KKR ranked as the top generator of profits per employee at $819,714. The alternatives manager ranked fifth among all sectors and companies worldwide. In comparison, UBS ranked as the 39th most profitable company per worker. The overall leader was energy giant Saudi Aramco at $1.65 million per worker. 

The list was based on the top 200 largest firms globally by market capitalization as of 28 June 2024. Data was based on 2023 annual reports or the corresponding fiscal period alongside other sources.
