A slide in Italy's markets sparked a drop in the fortunes of the Malacalza family, which nevertheless still ranks among the richest finance clans in Switzerland with an estimated $1 billion to $1.5 billion in wealth. «Bilanz» reports that Banca Carige, which the family controls one-third of, is turning the corner, which could lift the Malacalzas ranking next year.
Cornèr Bank, which belongs to the Ticino Cornaro family, is the best-capitalized bank in Switzerland. The clan, led by Cornèr CEO Vittorio Cornaro (pictured below), controls between $700 million and $800 million.
