Eight months after Renaissance founder Bao Fan stepped down, his wife has been appointed as the Beijing-based investment bank’s chairperson.
China Renaissance Holdings has appointed Hui Yin-ching as chairperson and executive director, according to a statement. She will be in charge of strategic planning for the firm with a focus on the wealth management business and its expansion into emerging markets as well as managing investor relations.
Hui, 54, has been closely involved in the establishment of Renaissance and played a key role in areas such as the introduction of key clients and investors to the wealth division, including several family offices.
Disappearance
Hui, also known as Xu Yanqing in mainland China, is the wife of Renaissance founder Bao Yan.
Bao, 53, disappeared from public view in February 2023 before a statement was later issued saying that he was cooperating with certain authorities in an investigation. In February 2024, he stepped down as the chairman and CEO of Renaissance with «health reasons» and the desire «to spend more time on his family affairs» named as reasons.
The Shanghai-born man worked at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse in London, New York and Hong Kong before founding Renaissance in 2005.
