Toronto-based insurer Manulife has promoted its Asia head to lead the global business.
Manulife Financial has appointed Phil Witherington as CEO and member of the board of directors, according to a statement, succeeding existing president and CEO Roy Gori who will retire on 8 May 2025. Gori will remain as an advisor until 31 August 2025 to ensure a smooth transition.
Witherington has more than 25 years of experience in insurance and financial services. He is currently president and CEO of Manulife Asia. He joined Manulife in 2014 and has been part of the executive leadership team since 2017. Previously, he also worked at HSBC, AIA and KPMG.
Witherington will continue to lead Manulife Asia and his successor will be announced in the upcoming months.
