Roger Ng’s defense lawyers are making the case that he was not even at meetings involving key players in the 1MDB scandal after U.S. prosecutors completed their round of testimonies.

Katelyn Giesler – an assistant at the law firm of defense lawyers Teny Geragos and Marc Agnifilo – testified about how she compiled charts showing that Roger Ng was not present at 1MDB meetings with key players such as ex-Goldman colleague Tim Leissner and Malaysian fugitive Jho Low, according to a «Bloomberg» report.

Meetings which Giesler claimed Ng was absent from include one that occurred shortly before an offshore account under the name of Leissner’s wife paid a $2 million bribe to an advisor of ex-Malaysian prime minster Najib Razak; a gala birthday bash in Las Vegas the next day with a guest list that didn’t include Ng’s name; a yacht meeting where a 22-carat pink diamond necklace was gifted to Najib’s wife; and dinner in San Tropez days later.

Evidence cited include a Blackberry message from Leissner to another Goldman banker in 2012 after one of the 1MDB bond transactions closed, telling him not to tell Ng about «our meeting with the friend».

Prosecutors Rest Case

Meanwhile, U.S. prosecutors rested their case after they called at least 20 witnesses to prove that Ng had conspired with Low in the 1MDB fraud.

Their final witness was another FBI agent, Ryan Collins, who told jurors that Ng had sent emails to Low through multiple addresses at the time of the 1MDB bond transactions.

Collins said he reviewed Ng’s iCloud account and found that some of those listed were people who later received kickbacks from Low in connection with the fraud.
