Hong Kong will be hosting another global summit in November with expectations of attendance by nearly 300 CEOs of financial firms worldwide.
Hong Kong will host the second edition of the «Global Financial Leaders’ Investment Summit» from November 6 to 8 with expectations of attendance by 280 CEOs of financial firms worldwide.
Similar to last year’s event, this year’s summit will feature a closed-door gala dinner followed by a public forum on various financial topics before another forum on asset management co-hosted by the Securities and Futures Commission.
«Stronger» Response
«Overall, the response is stronger than last year when we hosted the first summit, when the pandemic was still on,» said Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) CEO Eddie Yue Wai-man in an «SCMP» report, adding that 60 individuals have already accepted the invitation to attend.
«The positive response is also because this year’s summit is to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the HKMA. As these financial firms are our partners, their top bosses would like to come to join our birthday party.»
2022 Summit
The first edition of the summit was held in November 2022 in the midst of Covid-linked restrictions. According to Yue, there are no plans to make the summit an annual event or increase its scale.
«Due to the venue’s [size] restrictions, we aim to bring 280 top financiers to attend this year, so that they can have a close dialogue,» he explained. «It may also not work well if we turn it [into] an annual summit as the top executives may not be available every year.»
Following the summit, the Bank for International Settlements’ annual governors’ meeting and a related forum will also be held in Hong Kong on November 27 and 28.
