BNP Paribas WM Rejigs Investment Services in Asia

The wealth arm of BNP Paribas has reorganized its investment services team by combining advisory roles and announcing several new appointments, finews.asia has learned.

BNP Paribas Wealth Management has combined its client-facing investment advisory roles into a single advisory spectrum, led by Rajesh Hathiramani, according to a memo seen by finews.asia, on top of his existing responsibilities in leading the MyAdvisory and Portfolio Advisory Services (PAS) businesses. In addition, he will also assume the role of head of active advisory for Asia, succeeding Sharon Loh.

Prior to joining the French private bank, Hathiramani held senior leadership roles at UBS, including head of active portfolio advisory, Asia. Based in Singapore, he reports to Shafali Sachdev, head of investment services, APAC, and will work closely with product teams.

To bolster the function, Xinran Li has been named as head of active advisory, Hong Kong, reporting to Hathiramani. He joined the bank in 2015 and serves as managing director and senior investment counsellor.

DPM Promotion

On its discretionary portfolio management (DPM) business, the bank appointed Jack Lee, head of the Hong Kong DPM team, as head of DPM for Asia. In the role, he also reports to Sachdev.

According to the memo, the latest moves are meant to align the bank’s two main investment service delivery channels – investment advisory and DPM – and place the offerings in the «broader context of an overall asset allocation approach».

When contacted, a spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
