As Bitcoin slid below $4,500 on Tuesday dragging down other cryptocurrencies in the sell-off, investors may find better luck next year, especially if they buy some coins bearing the symbol of prosperity – the pig.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Wednesday unveiled the 2019 Year of the Boar Almanac coins, which will be issued on 1 January next year.
This is the third issue in the Singapore Fourth Chinese Almanac Coin Series, which spans across 12 years, starting from 2017 to 2028. Each year’s issue depicts a zodiac animal in a park or natural landscape setting in Singapore, according to a press release on MAS website.
2019 is Year of Pig
The 2019 Year of the Boar coins will feature the Boar with the island of Pulau Ubin in the background. Available at the Singapore Mint, the boar coins will come in 10 different versions, comprising various metallic compositions, minting relief effects and shapes.
Special premium sets consisting of various coin combinations will also be available. The obverse of the coins bears the Singapore Coat of Arms with the year 2019.
