Pictet's wealth management arm has hired a former UBS executive to lead its philanthropy unit in Asia.
Anthony Gao joins Pictet Wealth Management in the newly created role of head of philanthropy services, Asia, according to a statement.
Based in Hong Kong, Gao reports locally to Hong Kong branch chief executive Alex Ng and functionally to Geneva-based global head of philanthropy services Christoph Courth.
Becoming Increasingly Focused
Prior to joining Pictet, Gao was most recently with UBS Global Wealth Management where he was a senior philanthropy advisor of the APAC client services team with a focus on Greater China. Previously, he also worked for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Beijing and McKinsey & Co. in Shanghai.
«Our clients – from the younger, more tech-savvy, to those who achieved their success in more traditional industries – are becoming increasingly focused on the impact of their giving and are seeking partners and expertise to help them achieve their goals,» said Pictet Wealth Management Asia CEO Tee Fong Seng, adding that philanthropy in the region is trending towards a «more strategic and collaborative approach» as well as general professionalization.
