UBS Unveils Artwork to Honor Switzerland-China Ties
This year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Switzerland and China. At Art Basel Hong Kong, UBS’ studio will feature a piece honoring relations between the two countries.
This week, Art Basel Hong Kong will kick off and for the 11th year, UBS is once again the global lead partner of the event. The bank will play an active role by displaying select pieces at the UBS Art Studio including «Glazed Splendour» – a collaboration between Guo Pei, a renowned Chinese fashion designer, and Master Tan, a National-level Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritor of Guangcai, a type of traditional hand-painted porcelain.
The art piece, commissioned with the K11 Craft & Guild Foundation, notably symbolizes the relationship between UBS’ home country of Switzerland and China.

«The masterpiece that they have created, features 6,000 hand-painted porcelain tiles crafted into a couture gown, blending the symbolic flowers of two countries – peonies of China and edelweiss from Switzerland – to honor 75 years of diplomatic ties,» explained Amy Lo, chairman, UBS Global Wealth Management Asia, head and chief executive, UBS Hong Kong, at a press conference.
Hong Kong as Art Hub
Art Basel Hong Kong will take place from March 28 to 30 in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC), bringing together 240 exhibitors from 42 countries and territories, including 23 newcomers.
«Over the years, Art Basel Hong Kong has become so much more than an art fair – it is a catalyst for vibrancy in our city,» Lo added. «Art Basel now ignites Hong Kong’s creative energy across the entire March and beyond, attracting collectors, artists, thought leaders, and art lovers while inspiring satellite events that enrich our cultural landscape.»
