The wealth and asset management arm of Manulife has appointed a former private banker from Citi to lead its Asia business.
Manulife Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) has appointed Fabio Fontainha as head of wealth & asset management, Asia, according to a statement, effective February 2025. He will become a member of the Manulife WAM leadership team and Manulife’s global leadership team. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Paul Lorentz, president and CEO, Manulife WAM.
Fontainha has more than 30 years of experience in consumer and private wealth markets. He was most recently working at Citi Private Bank as global business execution head. He was also previously head of retail banking for Citi across APAC and EMEA.
Fontainha succeeds Michael Dommermuth who is leaving the firm at the end of the year.
