UBS Taps Singapore Veteran to Lead Middle East Wealth Push

UBS is reshuffling senior leadership in Wealth Management while aiming to further strengthen its business in the Middle East.

Michael Baechli will become the new market head NRI/NRP at UBS Wealth Management Middle East effective October 9. He will report to Niels Zilkens, head wealth management Middle East, according to a memo seen by finews.asia.

From J. Safra Sarasin to UBS

Baechli brings more than 20 years of experience in NRI wealth management, including 16 years in Dubai and seven years in Singapore.

Most recently, he headed the Southeast Asia team at Bank J. Safra Sarasin from Singapore, with a focus on the Middle East and Asia.

Building Julius Baer’s NRI Business

Before that, he spent 15 years at Julius Baer, where he built up the NRI business, rose to group head, and also served as deputy head global India and developed markets.

He also has governance experience as a board member and participant in risk committees. With his expertise, Baechli is expected to further strengthen UBS’s business, foster global connections and deliver added value to clients.
