Lombard Odier Keeps Building Its Asia Private Banking Team

Lombard Odier has added two bankers to its Asia private clients business. Only one of them is new to the bank: a China specialist from BNP Paribas in Hong Kong. The other moves internally to the Zurich desk for Asian clients.

Lombard Odier has hired Sonya Song as deputy market leader for China and senior relationship manager, according to a media note issued on Friday. She joined the Geneva-based private bank on 3 August and is based in Hong Kong.

Song has more than 17 years of experience advising ultra-high-net-worth clients in Greater China. She joins from BNP Paribas, where she covered the Greater China and Singapore markets. Before that, she held senior roles at UBS in Beijing and Zurich, as well as at Bank of East Asia and Standard Chartered.

Reporting to a Fellow Newcomer

Song reports to Alfred Low, CEO of Hong Kong and head of North Asia markets, private clients. Low himself was recruited from a rival bank in August 2025 (finews.asia reported).

The second appointment is a transfer. Jingjing He moved to the Asia private clients team in Zurich on 7 September, after more than 13 years with Lombard Odier in London and Geneva. Most recently, she headed Greater China institutional client coverage at Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM), the group's asset management arm.

From Institutions to Private Clients

He has nearly 20 years of experience in asset management and private banking. Before joining Lombard Odier in 2013, she worked at UBS, Standard Chartered and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.

In Zurich, she will serve Asian clients from Switzerland. She reports to Christian Wagner, market head Asia Switzerland. Omar Shokur, regional head for Asia, private clients, said the appointments «reflect our continued commitment to investing in top talents» and would support the bank's «growth ambitions across the region».

A Steady Stream of Hires

Shokur, who joined from Indosuez Wealth Management in March 2025 (finews.asia reported), has been expanding the Asia team at a steady pace. In April, Lombard Odier announced four bankers for Singapore and Hong Kong (finews.com reported). Later that month, it hired Edwin Tan from DBS as Southeast Asia market head (finews.asia reported).

The group had client assets of 367 billion francs at the end of June 2026, up from 323 billion a year earlier (finews.asia reported). It employs 2,895 people in 26 offices across 19 jurisdictions.
