EFG International has had a rocky few years, but the Latsis family which controls the bank remains hugely wealthy. Together with other investments, the Greek shipping and finance dynasty is worth an estimated $3 billion to $3.5 billion.
Self-Made Billionaire
The fifth-richest Swiss banker is a self-made billionaire: Martin Ebner (pictured below) is more focused on airlines these days, but the foundation of his fame – and wealth – is BZ Bank, the vehicle with which the activist investor began roiling sleepy Swiss conglomerates in the 1990s. The bow-tied banker is worth between $2.5 billion to $3.5 billion.
Union Bancaire Privée, or UBP, has actively gobbled up private bank rivals for years. The growth-by-acquisition strategy as orchestrated by Guy, Anne and Daniel de Picciotto. UBP manages $128 billion, the family is worth an estimated $2 billion to $2.5 billion.
Roughly 20 members of the sprawling Vontobel family control just over half of the eponymous Zurich-based bank. The clan's wealth is estimated at $2 billion to $2.5 billion.
Best-Capitalized Bank
