New York-headquartered art auctioneer Southeby’s has opened a new two-story space in Hong Kong
Southeby’s has opened a new art space in Hong Kong called «Maison», according to a statement. Based in luxury retail podium LANDMARK CHATER, it boasts two stories with a total of 24,000 square feet of space featuring curated retail across art, luxury and collectibles as well as immersive experiences and museum-quality exhibitions.
«With over half a century track record in the region, our Maison, the new flagship of Sotheby’s Asia in Hong Kong’s beating heart, marks a new era for our company,» said Nathan Drahi, managing director, Asia at Sotheby’s.
«This Maison, uniquely located in a bustling luxury retail destination, features a radical dual concept whereby the first floor’s overall playfulness contrasts with the ground floor’s solemnity – and objects and experiences are composed accordingly.»
Regional Business
Asia is Sotheby’s second largest market globally, having contributed to 30 percent of its total transaction volume in 2023. In the first half of 2024, the region has already seen 30 percent of new clients.
The Maison in Hong Kong will feature a retail experience with various objects available for purchase at HK$5,000 ($641) to HK$50 million. It will complement other flagship destinations in New York and Paris which are due to open in the coming months.
