A former J.P. Morgan Asset Management expert on China has joined Old Mutual Global Investors. The deregulation of capital control by the Chinese government has begun to open routes in China, the asset manager says.
Old Mutual Global Investors has hired Richard Mo as head of China business, a newly-created position for developing relationships with regulators, global financial institutions and distributors in the region. He will be based in Hong Kong.
He reports to Carol Wong (pictured below), managing director in Asia Pacific.
Mo joins from a 16 year career at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he held a number of positions in distribution as well as building client relationships across Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.
Member of the China Executive Committee
In his last role, as head of China Retail Business, he was responsible for wealth management and client development for retail markets in China, dealing with both Chinese and foreign banks. Mo was a member of the J.P. Morgan Asset Management China executive committee.
«The deregulation of capital control by the Chinese government has begun to open routes in China; this is a significant opportunity for us to work with professional investors in the world’s second largest economy,» Carol Wong said.
«Richard Mo’s appointment reflects our ongoing desire to expand into markets where we believe we can offer a varied range of investment solutions that meet the demands of an increasingly sophisticated client base.»
