Global private equity firm KKR continues to bolster its Asia Pacific tech business with the hire of a new head, furthering exposure to the region’s emerging sector.
An ongoing coronavirus pandemic has not derailed KKR’s expansion plans as it names Lucian Schoenefelder as its APAC head of tech after most recently leading the firm’s European tech growth business. According to an «SCMP» report, Schoenefelder’s two-pronged focus includes larger deals above $100 million and small growth deals.
Schoenefelder had previously worked at J.P. Morgan’s mergers and acquisitions arm before joining KKR in 2007 before being named partner in 2017.
The firm had most recently named Karen Zhang as its head of China emerging tech investments, former head of China internet and technology deals at New York-headquartered General Atlantic.
APAC Expansion
According to unnamed sources, the private equity giant is building a regional team to raise funds for tech deals. The firm had most recently named Karen Zhang as its head of China emerging tech investments, former head of China internet and technology deals at New York-headquartered General Atlantic.
The firm’s regional expansion extends beyond just technology, having hired Wong Chee-Wei as its Singapore-based Asia head of global impact earlier this month.
