finews.asia is expanding its coverage in Hong Kong given the intense worldwide focus on events there. An experienced journalist who most recently worked in finance will cover significant developments in the city, as well as broader themes throughout Asia Pacific and Greater China.
Andrew Isbester, a Swiss-British dual citizen, joins the finews.asia, finews.com and finews.ch teams after living and working in Hong Kong for 12 years.
He spent his formative years in a number of countries including Argentina, Brazil, the U.S., Belgium and Scotland before returning to work in Switzerland in the 1990s and early 2000s as a correspondent and, subsequently, bureau chief for the international news agency «AFX News», which was part of «Agence France Presse» (AFP) and the «Financial Times».
Local Expertise
Following this, he worked in Zurich and Hong Kong for several major banks in the communications, financial reporting, investor relations, risk, financial crime and compliance areas before resuming his activities as a journalist for us.
«I am extremely pleased to welcome Andrew Isbester to the finews team. I had always greatly admired his commitment as a reporter for AFX News. The fact that he is now working for us comes at an ideal time given the events in Hong Kong and it greatly enhances our editorial expertise on the ground,» said Claude Baumann, founder and CEO of the finews group.
Strong Growth
finews.asia started out in Singapore at the beginning of 2016 and opened an office in Hong Kong in 2019 under the leadership of Richard Otsuki, the former deputy editor of trade publication «Asian Private Banker».
Since its launch, finews.asia has grown rapidly and now records 151,000 unique users (returning visitors) and 292,000 page impressions per month.
