Xin Yun Tan: «I Prioritize Self-Growth, Self-Care, and Self-Love»

Never let anyone or anything hold you back from growing, Xin Yun Tan, Partner at global migration platform Multipolitan, says in an interview with finewsa.asia. «If change is the only constant in life, let every change be a step towards growth,» she adds.

Ms. Tan, what is the best thing about your job?

The opportunity to wear multiple hats and collaborate with a diverse team from different cultures, where each person is unique, passionate, and full of life. It keeps things dynamic and constantly inspiring.

What advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

Never let anyone or anything hold you back from growing. If change is the only constant in life, let every change be a step towards growth.

What are you particularly proud of?

My ability to bounce back quickly and move forward with resilience and purpose.

What was your biggest defeat?

My biggest defeat was letting fear and doubt delay my path to authenticity. But even that became a stepping stone for learning to trust myself more deeply.

What is your favorite wine?

I actually prefer whisky over wine – Kavalan from Taiwan is one of my favourites for its rich, smooth character.

What is most important to you at the moment?

At the moment, I’m focused on challenging myself to confront my fears and push personal boundaries. One example is that I've booked a skydiving experience in Dubai for my upcoming trip despite having a fear of heights.

What fashion brand do you like to wear the most?

I favour our local brand «Little Match Girl» for its commitment to sustainability. They use sustainable materials such as Tencel, and their small-batch production approach helps minimise waste.

What would be the biggest surprise for someone who had to do your job for a day?

The sheer range of responsibilities, from high-level strategy to hands-on problem solving, all happening in a fast-paced environment where agility is key. It’s not just multitasking, it’s multidimensional thinking.

What is your personal drive?

My drive comes from a deep desire to grow, to contribute meaningfully, and to live authentically. I am constantly seeking alignment between purpose, passion, and impact.

What do your employees value most about you?

I believe they value my empathy, openness, and willingness to listen, support, and lead with heart and clarity. I’m invested in their growth, not just their performance.

Your best investment?

Myself always. I prioritise self-growth, self-care, and self-love. Without good health and a positive mindset, even the best investments lose their shine over time.
