The chief compliance officer of a top Chinese investment bank has stepped down over claims of «health reasons» at the same time that a reported leak of his extramarital affairs has surfaced.
China International Capital Corporation’s (CICC) chief compliance office Chen Gang has left the bank, according to a statement from the firm, over health-related reasons.
Chen joined CICC – oft-dubbed «China’s Goldman Sachs» – in 2006 to work for its legal and compliance department for eight years before rejoining in 2016.
According to CICC reports, his annual pre-tax salary was 5.9 million yuan ($906,790).
Audio Leak
Separately, an audio recording exposing Chen’s extramarital affair with a female subordinate has been leaked earlier this week, according to a «Caixin» report.
CICC chief executive Huang Zhaohui will take over Chen’s duties in the interim until a replacement has been found, the bank’s statement added.
