Singapore payment provider Network for Electronic Transfers has appointed UOB’s head of group technology and operations as its new chairman.
Susan Hwee has been appointed as chairman of Network for Electronic Transfers (Nets), according to a statement, effective September 1.
Hwee succeeds Ching Wei Hong, OCBC deputy president as well as chairman of the Bank of Singapore and OCBC Securities, who has been chairman since September 1, 2008.
Nets’ chairmanship rotations every three years amongst local Singapore banks DBS, OCBC and UOB.
30-Year Veteran
Hwee has over 30 years of experience in banking and operations, including two decades with UOB.
She has been on Nets’ board since 2002 and is also a management executive committee member at UOB where she spearheads the banks' innovation initiatives.
«As the payments industry undergoes significant change, [Hwee] vast experience and technology expertise will be invaluable in advancing Nets’ capabilities,» said Nets group chief executive Lawrence Chan, highlighting key efforts in areas such as Singapore’s PayNow and Thailand's PromptPay linkage of real-time payment systems.
