The Swiss bank's top sustainability expert is leaving, finews.asia has learned.
Marisa Drew is leaving Credit Suisse, where she has held a variety of sustainability roles including chief of the area since 2020, according to a memo seen by finews.asia on Tuesday. The Swiss bank is replacing her with Emma Crystal (pictured below), a key wealth management executive.
«With the bank’s clear commitment to sustainability, we are delighted to announce Emma Crystal is appointed chief sustainability officer for Credit Suisse, effective April 1, 2022,» CEO Thomas Gottstein wrote in the memo to staff, which was confirmed by a bank spokesman.
Dismantling 17-Month Effort
Drew is a former investment banker and 18-year veteran of Credit Suisse who had enjoyed unparalleled access in the past when she reported to CEO Tidjane Thiam. Her departure was first reported by «Reuters» (behind paywall).
The Swiss bank last month dismantled a dedicated sustainability push under Lydie Hudson, who will leave later this year. Crystal was in 2020 tasked with overseeing sustainable client solutions in a large part of Credit Suisse’s European business after Hudson won the management-level sustainability job.
