QBE has appointed William Kuan as chairman and independent non-executive director for its Hong Kong boards.
Effective 9 March, Kuan will be chairman of QBE Hong Kong & Shanghai Insurance, QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) and QBE Mortgage Insurance (Asia), the insurer said in a press release Friday.
Kuan was at Prudential for 18 years, holding roles including CEO for New Markets (Asia), where he was responsible for Indochina, South Asia and South America, the release said. In that role, he was responsible for assessing new markets, managing market entry options and leading operation launches, the insurer said.
Other roles held by Kuan at Prudential included president director and CEO for Indonesia, chairman for Taiwan and chairman for Laos, the release said.
In addition, Kuan was chairman for PT Avrist Assurance, an Indonesian composite insurance company, the release said.
QBE Asia is part of the QBE Insurance Group, a global general insurance and reinsurance company based in Sydney, Australia, and listed on the Australia Stock Exchange (ASX).
