The senior banker departed the Swiss bank in 2021 during the Archegos and Greensill Capital debacles. Real estate is now his new calling.
François Monnet, the former Credit Suisse Head of Hong Kong and co-head of Asia private banking, has started working in the property sector, an announcement sent Wednesday indicated.
He joins Estating, an internationally active property fintech, as an investor and senior advisor. His objective will be to expand the business in the Asia Pacific region.
The company was founded in Berlin in 2020 and has offices in Luxembourg, Berlin, Evian, Miami and Zurich. It allows clients to select and invest in properties through moderate-sized, fractional investments using conventional brokerage and securities accounts.
Doubling of Assets
Monnet's 14 year tenure at Credit Suisse ended with his surprising departure last year. In Hong Kong, he managed to double the level of assets under management and establish or expand the on-shore business in China and South Korea.
Before joining Credit Suisse, he was CEO of the Consumer Division of Eastman Kodak in Asia Pacific after holding similar roles in a number of European markets before that.
He has focused as being an active investor and advisory mandates since leaving the bank.
