Former UBS executive to lead British lender's wholesale business in Asia.
Charles Li has been named head of wholesale business, Asia at HSBC Asset Management, according to a statement released Tuesday. The appointment is effective September 1 and will be subject to regulatory approval. Based in Hong Kong, Li will have a dual reporting line to the global head of wholesale, Thorsten Michalik, and Daisy Ho, chief executive for APAC and Hong Kong.
In the newly created role, Li will be responsible for the coverage of all wholesale clients in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, and Southeast Asia. At the same time, Alison Brown – the current head of sales and wholesale business in Hong Kong and China will be taking on a new role in HSBC Asset Management slated to be announced later this year.
Li has over 20 years of asset management experience, most recently at UBS Asset Management where he was its head of global wealth management client coverage, APAC, and deputy head of asset management (Hong Kong). Previously, he also worked at Fortis Investment Management Asia, PCI Investment Management, and Allianz Global Investors.
