The US-based bank will relocate a New York-based investment banker to the region later this year to head the Southeast Asia equity capital markets business, finews.asia has learned.
JP Morgan has appointed Sophie Qian as head of equity capital markets (ECM) for Southeast Asia, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia.
In the role, she will report to Asia ex-Japan ECM co-heads Peihao Huang and Sunil Dhupelia and will move from New York to Singapore later this year. She has 14 years of investment banking experience, including nine of them with JP Morgan.
She joined the US ECM team last year to focus on US and Asia cross-border opportunities and special purpose acquisition companies (SPAC). A spokesperson for the bank confirmed the contents of the memo.
