In the wake of the FTX bankruptcy, the CEO of the world’s biggest crypto exchange is busily allaying fears about the future of the crypto industry. Now he is coming to Switzerland.
Binance co-founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao, aka CZ, will be attending the annual Crypto Finance Conference (CFC) from January 11 to 13 in St. Moritz, Switzerland, the conference organizers announced Friday.
«Crypto has had a challenging few weeks. While this may have set us back, we are also in a strong position to see a healthier industry emerge with strong user protections at its core,» Zhao said in the statement.
Industry Rescue Plan
Binance is the world’s largest crypto exchange, according to trading volumes, and in the aftermath of this month’s FTX collapse, Zhao announced he would commit up to $2 billion to Binance’s Crypto Rescue Plan to help troubled projects.
Initially interested in purchasing FTX as it started to disintegrate, Zhao pulled back after realizing that he could not trust the information he was provided. Instead, the Binance CEO is now planning to look at FTX’s assets as they make their way through bankruptcy proceedings, he told «Bloomberg» (behind paywall) in an interview Thursday.
Priorities and Plans
Zhao will engage in a fireside chat with conference CEO Nicolo Stoehr about key industry developments and trends, including topics such as regulation, market conditions, the future of crypto, and Binance's priorities and plans.
Anthony Scaramucci, former White House Director of Communications; Meltem Demirors, chief strategy officer of CoinShares and Eva Kaili, Vice President of the European Parliament will also attend the three-day conference.
