A veteran private banker for the Thai market at Credit Suisse will take on more responsibilities in Southeast Asia, finews.asia has learned.
Credit Suisse has appointed Edwin Tan as market group head Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia, effective February 1.
Based in Thailand, Tan will continue to report to head of wealth management APAC Benjamin Cavalli. The organizational change will also result in Sacha Eugster, market leader Philippines, reporting to Tan.
Tan has more than 20 years of financial experience and coverage of the Thailand market. He first joined Credit Suisse in 2002 before being named head of wealth management Thailand onshore in 2020 and taking on expanded responsibilities to oversee the offshore Thailand team since October 2022.
Relocation to Europe
Tan succeeds Marcus Sloor, who will relocate back to Europe for family reasons and pursue a new opportunity within Credit Suisse.
Sloor has over 20 years of experience in investment banking and wealth management. He joined Credit Suisse in 2014 as market group head Malaysia before taking on additional responsibilities for the Thailand and Vietnam market in 2018 as well as the Philippines market in 2020. Sloor was also a member of the wealth management APAC management committee.
«We have many talented people and capable leaders who have grown with the firm over the years and are ready to take on greater responsibilities and new challenges,» said a spokesperson when contacted by finews.asia, confirming the personnel changes.
