The Royal Bank of Canada’s Asia wealth unit has strengthened its product capabilities with a series of recent hires from UBS, Credit Suisse and Standard Chartered.
Tan Yuh Harn joined RBC Wealth Management in January as head of discretionary portfolio management (DPM) and ultra-high net worth solutions (UHNW), Asia, according to a statement. Based in Singapore, Tan reports to Asia head of investment solutions & products Juan Aronna.
Tan has over 25 years of portfolio management experience, most recently as a senior portfolio manager at Credit Suisse’s APAC wealth unit. Previously, he also worked at UBS and BNP Paribas Wealth Management.
And in February, the bank also hired Alvis Chan as a portfolio manager within the UHNW solutions unit, based in Hong Kong and reporting to Tan. Chan was most recently the head of Hong Kong fixed income at UBS Global Wealth Management and previously worked at AIA International Hong Kong and ICBC International Asset Management.
2022 Hires
In addition, the Canadian private bank also announced product hires for Asia made in 2022.
In December, Ajay Saratchandran was appointed as head of funds, global manager research – Asia, based in Singapore and reporting to Asia head of investment content & advisory Tam Chun Him. Saratchandran was most recently a senior portfolio manager at Standard Chartered’s DPM program and previously also worked at ANZ, Manulife and Mercer.
And in July, Gautam Chadda rejoined as head of portfolio specialists in Singapore, reporting to Aronna. Chadda has over 20 years of industry experience and previously worked at Standard Chartered, Bank of New York and AllianceBernstein. From 2010 to 2015, he was a director in RBC’s London-based investment counsellor team.
