London-headquartered HSBC’s private banking arm has announced the appointment of a head of South Asia.
HSBC appoints Tommy Leung as head of global private banking, South Asia, according to a statement, effective October 19. Based in Singapore, Leung reports to Siew Meng Tan, regional head of HSBC Global Private Banking, APAC on a functional basis and Kai Zhang, head of wealth and personal banking, South Asia on an entity basis.
Leung succeeds Philip Kunz who will take a career break after six years with the bank.
Leung has over two decades of private and investment banking experience at UBS, most recently as managing director and APAC co-head of global family and institutional wealth for its wealth management unit. Previously, he also held other senior positions including APAC head of active portfolio advisory for the private bank and APAC head of credit sales for the investment bank.
