The US-based investment manager announces two appointments aimed at developing distribution and leading Asia Pacific business development efforts.

Franklin Templeton indicated it had appointed Oliver Lee and William Chang to senior positions in order to strengthen its client portfolio management teams, according to an announcement sent by the institution on Tuesday.

Lee will take over from Chang and become a senior client portfolio manager at Templeton Global Investments (TGI) and he will be responsible for working closely with distribution partners and clients in the Asia Pacific and Middle East regions. He will be based in Singapore and report to Anu Sawhney, the TGI head of business development.

Newly Created Role

Chang is transitioning to the role of senior client portfolio manager at Franklin Equity Group, reporting to Evan Davis, who heads business development at the unit.

In the newly created position, Chang will lead business development efforts in the Asia Pacific region related to the group's diverse range of public and private growth, innovation, and sector-focused investment and portfolio solutions.

Extensive Experience

Lee has over 20 years of experience in investment banking and asset management in Europe and Asia. Before joining Franklin Templeton, he served as a client portfolio manager for Japan equities at Eastspring Investments. He has also held roles at Jupiter Asset Management, Schroders, Sloane Robinson, Goldman Sachs, and UBS.

Chang has almost 20 years of experience in the asset management industry. Before joining Franklin Templeton in 2021, he was vice president with the client solutions team at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in New York.
