The global head of Citi Private Bank is leaving after working with the US lender for 17 years.

Ida Liu, global head of Citi Private Bank, is leaving to pursue opportunities elsewhere, according to a LinkedIn post.

«After nearly two decades at Citi, including the privilege of serving as the Global Head of Citi Private Bank, I have made the decision to leave the firm and embark on the next chapter of my professional journey,» Liu said. «Great careers are defined by embracing new challenges and opportunities, and this is the right time for me to leverage my global expertise, leadership experience and passion for growth in bold and exciting new ways.»

Before becoming its global head in 2021, Liu joined Citi Private Bank in 2007 as a senior banker in the fashion, media and entertainment group. Prior to that, she worked at fashion company Vivienne Tam for three years. Previously she also worked at Merrill Lynch and BT Wolfensohn.

Post-Departure Restructuring

According to an internal memo, Citi will restructure the business following Liu’s exit by eliminating her role and creating four regional managers who will oversee both private banking and asset management.

«[Liu] left an indelible mark across our organization and will be greatly missed,» said Andy Sieg, the head of Citi’s wealth division.
