The private banking unit of Citi has hired a former UBS executive to focus on family offices in Singapore, finews.asia has learned.

Citi Private Bank has hired Hoo Peng Han as a director of its global family office group in Asia to focus on deal origination and syndication in the southern part of the region, according to an internal memo seen by finews.asia. Based in Singapore, he reports to Bernie Wai, Citi's Asia head of family office group.

Hoo has 10 years of investment banking knowledge and was transferred internally within Credit Suisse in 2020 to join its strategic advisory and private assets group to focus on coverage of family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals, origination of mandates and structured credit transactions, and structuring and syndication of private investments across Southeast Asia. After the UBS takeover, he transitioned to a similar role in 2024.

Hoo will work with Stephan Lanz who is also a Singapore-based director of the global family office team. Later this month, the team will be joined by Hong Kong-based vice president Alice Chiu.
