The wealth management arm of the Royal Bank of Canada has appointed a head of private banking in Singapore.
RBC Wealth Management has appointed Kamran Azim as head of private banking, Singapore, according to a statement. In the role, he will drive the development and execution of RBC’s private banking business strategy in Southeast Asia with a focus on growing its client base and deepening relationships across the region. He will also maintain his existing responsibilities as the regional chief operating officer (COO).
Azim has extensive experience, having first joined RBC in 2008 in its capital markets unit in Toronto. Prior to becoming Asia COO of the wealth unit, he was head of credit, wealth management Asia and wealth management international as well as vice president, head of global credit and cash management for wealth management.
New Hires
In addition, RBC has also expanded its private banking team in Singapore with several new hires.
Jessie Heng joins as managing director and team head. She has over 28 years of private banking experience, most recently as a cluster head for a Southeast Asia team at Julius Baer. Previously, she also worked at DBS, Credit Suisse and Citi.
Moses Seow has been appointed as executive director. He has 25 years of financial industry experience across retail, wealth products, asset management, corporate banking and private banking. He joins from Lombard Odier where he was executive director and team head for Greater China. Prior to that, he worked at DBS, Bank of China and Bank of Singapore.
24-year wealth management veteran Derrick Yong has been named director. Before his most recent stint at VP Bank, he worked at Standard Chartered, Clariden Leu, EFG and CIMB.
Eng Huat Thio has also been named director after more than 30 years of experience at Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas Wealth Management, OCBC and, most recently, Julius Baer where he was a relationship manager.
