The CEO of Credit Suisse Australia is set to take up the role of Chairman of the The Australian Financial Markets Association.

The Board of the Australian Financial Markets Association (AFMA) has appointed John Knox as its Chairman, according to a statement sent to finews.asia. Knox is the CEO of Credit Suisse Australia.

He succeeds Steve Harker from Morgan Stanley Australia, who has served as AFMA Chairman since July 2015.

Strong Backer in Singapore

At Credit Suisse Knox is also the Head of Investment Banking. He has been at the Swiss bank since 1995, before transferring to New York in 1998. After almost seven years in New York, he returned to Australia in 2005.

Among other expertise, Knox has significant experience in commercial sporting negotiations, including advising Cricket Australia in its domestic media rights sale in 2013. Helman Sitohang Credit Suisse’s APAC CEO based in Singapore is known to be a strong backer of Knox's work in Australia.
