French banking group Societe Generale has appointed a new head of global markets for India. Last year the company made several senior management changes across its Asian business units.

Rajat Kohli has been named as the new head of global markets for India, replacing Gopal Bhattacharya who decided to pursue other opportunities outside the group, the bank said in a press release.

In his new position he is expected to further develop Societe Generale’s markets activities in India including derivatives, foreign exchange and INR products.

Rajat Kohli has more than 14 years of experience in the financial markets across various asset classes. He previously worked at BNP Paribas for 11 years, with his most recent role as head of institutional business in their Global Markets division.

A Series of Asian Management Changes

He has also served as head of origination and credit sales and has vast experience handling several structured products across different asset classes.

Prior to BNP Paribas he worked at Citibank for the markets division in Mumbai and Singapore.

Kohli will be based in Mumbai and report to Evelyne Collin, chief executive and chief country officer, India and to Arnaud Lhoste, head of markets sales for South East Asia and India.
