Citigroup has announced that the interim fintech head, serving since August 2016, will become the permanent head of the unit.
Yolande Piazza had been serving in the role on an interim basis after the previous chief executive of Citi fintech, Heather Cox, left for a role with USAA.
In a memo seen by finews.asia, Stephen Bird, the chief executive of Citi's global consumer bank, praised Piazza’s contributions since she took over as interim CEO of the fintech unit.
«Today, I am pleased to announce Yolande Piazza as the Head of Citi fintech. As many of you know, Yo has been leading the team on an interim basis for the last few months. Under her leadership, we successfully launched a new set of features for U.S. Retail Bank clients that make us the first global bank to integrate banking and wealth management on mobile,» Bird commented.
Banks in the Tech Hotseat
Piazza has reportedly worked for Citigroup for nearly 30 years and has held various leadership roles in the company such as chief operating officer of Citi fintech and CAO of Global Consumer Operations and Technology.
Last year finews.asia interviewed Citi's John Hogue, the head of Citi innovation labs in Singapore and New York, which proof ideas to improve the U.S. bank’s services with customers.
