The fund invests across multiple asset classes globally, including fixed income, currencies, commodities and equities, and is based on the firm's responsible investment philosophy.
Active manager Maitri has launched the Sustainable Multi-Asset Absolute Return Strategy Fund, its first fund in its portfolio, the Singapore-based firm announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Responding to growing investor demand for strategies that incorporate an environmental, social and governance (ESG) focus, the fund is designed to reduce investment risks by integrating such considerations across the investment process and framework, the announcement said.
Long-Term View
According to chief investment officer Ankit Khandelwal, the fund «combines both a top-down and bottom-up approach to identify optimal opportunities and deliver long-term value creation.»
A long-term view with active risk management helps investors mitigate short term volatility and provide a stable income stream by investing in good quality and responsible issuers, the firm said.
UNPRI Signatory
Founded in 2015, Maitri began as the family office of the Tolaram Group. It is now a licensed fund manager focused on active responsible investment management.
The firm is a signatory to the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI). One-quarter of Maitri's earned capital goes to the Ishk Tolaram Foundation which supports vulnerable communities in Indonesia, Nigeria and Singapore.
