Swiss-based Blockchain Valley Ventures has appointed Credit Suisse Private Banking's former global head of investments as its Asia Pacific chairman.
In his new role, Singapore-based Thomas Amstutz will lead the firm's efforts to bolster its private wealth advisory services and investment banking capabilities as part of its growing presence in the region, the company announced in a blog post.
Amstutz has over 40 years of experience in financial markets with a recent focus on hedge fund, private equity and early-stage investment opportunities. He joined Credit Suisse in 1978 and was part of the organization for 25 years, where he was an executive board member and responsible for the investments division of the private bank, as well as a host of additional experiences as an advisor and partner to family offices and hedge funds.
Established in 2018, BVV is a venture capital firm and corporate finance advisor that focuses on emerging financial technology and blockchain. It has offices in Zug, Zurich and Singapore and partnerships in London, Frankfurt and Israel.
Asia Opportunity
BVV said it hopes to capture the emerging fintech and blockchain opportunities between Switzerland and Singapore.
«We see Singapore, and Asia more broadly, as the next frontier for blockchain opportunities,» APAC managing director Leeor Groen said in the announcement.
Heinrich Zetlmayer, BVV founder and managing partner, said that Amstutz's appointment reflects the «growing adoption and maturity of blockchain across industries and geographies.»
