The Long Way to Niagara Falls
A more than two-week trip across Canada takes in the imposing Niagara Falls on its first stop from Toronto. The «Canadian» offers a transcontinental journey in Art Deco-style carriages. Travelers take in sweeping views from elevated seats in a domed panorama car. Stops including overnighting in a lodge on Pyramid Lake, Jasper national park, the Maligne Canyon and lakes and Spirit Island.
Three days (and nights) in Banff ensures ample time to discover another national park. The «Rocky Mountaineer» (pictured above) traverses the Rockies, ending the day in Kamloops. The next day is onward to Vancouver, from which travelers can visit British Columbia's capital, Victoria.
The trip starts at $12,500 per person in the priciest category or $14,500 for singles.
Ireland's «Dynamic Pricing»
The Belmond Group owns seven train operators including the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, or VSOE, via its LCMH subsidiary. The newest one is the «Belmond Grand Hibernian,» en route in Ireland since 2017.
A maximum of 40 guests travels in five sleeping cars, two dining carriages, and a panorama wagon (pictured above) akin to a five-star hotel. Among the offerings are a seven-day «grand tour» from Dublin's green cityscape to Ireland's wild coasts via Cork, Blarney Castle, Galway, Belfast in Northern Ireland, and Viking port Waterford before returning to Dublin.
Prices begin at $10,000 per person, but can fluctuate: Belmond opts for «dynamic pricing». Some 2020 trips are already booked out.
