Vega Sicilia has become mythical and is quite probably the most prestigious winery in Spain. Unico, its premium wine of Tempranillo and a little Cabernet Sauvignon matures for years in the barrique and keeps for decades. Synonymous for power, elegance, and richness – a magnificent experience. Starting at about 400 francs.
4. Grange Bin 95, Penfolds, Australia
The Australian cult wine of all cult wines is made from Shiraz grapes. A monument of wine and close to immortality. The only wine included in a list of cultural heritage by the South Australian Natural Trust. Price: about 600 francs.
5. Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, France
This red wine from the Burgundy is quite probably the most coveted red wine on earth. The grand cru domain is fully owned by this winery and stretches only across some 1.8 hectares of land. Elegance and finesse in purity, but very expensive indeed. The wine costs about 3,800 francs per bottle at the launch and later reaches as much as 20,000 francs.
