French major BNP Paribas continues to see change at senior level as managing director and head of China, Alfred Tsai, resigns, a source told finews.asia. Tsai, who has been with the bank since 2011, is a well-known industry figure, having previously worked at major banks such as Citibank, UBS and Credit Suisse.
Tsai is joining Swiss bank Union Bancaire Privé as part of their senior management in the region, the person said. His hire significantly bolsters the bank's footprint in northern Asia and is expected to help attract other China bankers into the fold. Geneva-based UBP, which is led in Asia by Michael Blake, didn't comment.
