M&G’s Asia Pacific head of intermediary channels is leaving the firm, finews.asia has learned.
William Tan will exit U.K.-based M&G Investments after joining a little over a year ago in April 2018. At M&G, Tan was responsible for the coverage of private banks, external asset managers and wealth managers in the region.
A spokesperson for the firm declined to comment.
Tan has more than 20 years of investment experience and prior to joining M&G, he was a Southeast Asia director of strategic solutions for Capital Group. Previously, he had spent seven years with Templeton Asset Management also covering the Southeast Asia region.
Still Growing Strong
Despite the exit, M&G continues to expand in the region most notably its Asian real estate investment portfolio and its Asian equity capabilities which was further bolstered by the hire of four investment professionals in September. The firm has marked Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea and China as key markets in the region.
In addition, M&G recently hired Loretta Ng to lead its Asia business, effective November 1. Ng joins from Eastspring Taiwan where she has been its chief executive since 2011 and the new hire marks «another significant step in M&G’s strategy to invest in global locations and markets offering client development opportunities and scope for future growth,» a statement said.
