The private banking arm of HSBC has announced two new appointments for the Indonesia and Thailand markets, finews.asia has learned.

HSBC Global Private Banking (GPB) has appointed Urban Binggeli as GPB desk head for Indonesia, according to a memo seen by finews.asia, effective immediately. He will lead the bank’s strategic efforts to strengthen relationships with ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clients and family offices, driving growth in the Indonesian market. In the role, he will report to Hammad Hashmi, market head for Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia at HSBC GPB.

Binggeli has over 15 years of experience in wealth management and UHNW client advisory, including as market team head at UBS and Credit Suisse.

Thai Market

In addition, the private bank also named Benjamin Wang as GPB desk head for Thailand, effective January 18. He will lead the Thailand offshore and onshore teams based in Singapore and Bangkok, focusing on driving performance and client coverage strategies. Based in Singapore, he will report to Hashmi on an entity basis and Abhishek Mehrotra, market head, South East Asia international, on a functional basis.

Wang has over 20 years of private banking and wealth management experience. He has been serving as interim desk head for Thailand since July 2024.
