Julius Baer expands its onshore wealth management business in India with multiple hires, including a former IIFL executive and his team of private bankers.
Julius Baer hired Chirag Gandhi as managing director and senior advisor in its onshore India unit, according to a statement from the bank, highlighting new opportunities in the northern region of India including Rajasthan and Punjab.
Ghandi was previously a senior partner with Mumbai-headquartered IIFL Wealth which has over $27 billion in assets under management.
Avendus Hires
The bank also added a team of bankers from financial firm Avendus including Manish Khaitan in Mumbai and Abhinav Kumar in Bangalore to strengthen its western and southern India coverage.
In addition to hires, the bank underlined the promotion of 22-year Julius Baer banker and India executive committee member Anand Khatau to managing director.
«Booming Markets»
According to Julius Baer India’s head of wealth management Himanshu Bhagat the bank will continue to strengthen its domestic unit especially in the «booming markets» of the National Capital Region, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
