In the midst of ongoing regulatory scrutiny, Binance is reportedly in talks with a former senior executive from the Singapore Exchange for a CEO role in the city-state.

Binance is in talks with former SGX chief regulatory officer Richard Teng to become chief executive of Singapore, according to a «Bloomberg» report citing unnamed sources.

Teng stepped down from his last role as head of the Abu Dhabi Global Market in March after six years.

In addition to his SGX role, Teng also previously spent 13 years with the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Regional Leadership

The pursuit of Teng is part of broader plans by Binance to restructure the business which has been under scrutiny by regulators worldwide.

In a recent press conference, Binance founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao said the firm would establish multiple headquarters globally and seek regional CEOs with a focus on compliance experience.

Zhao also spoke about seeking a potential successor to replace himself.
