Societe Generale has appointed a new chief executive for Asia Pacific, succeeding Gaëlle Olivier.

Societe Generale has named Cécile Bartenieff as CEO of Asia Pacific, according to a statement, effective January 17 next year.

Based in Hong Kong, Bartenieff reports to Slawomir Krupa, deputy general manager and head of global banking and investor solutions activities, while retaining her role as member of the group’s management committee.  

She replaces Gaëlle Olivier who will stay with the bank in the new role as group deputy general manager, chief operating officer (COO).

A successor for Bartenieff existing role as COO of the global banking and investor solutions activities will be announced later.

Bartenieff is a 21-year veteran at Societe Generale, first joining the French lender in 2000 in its investment banking arm. She would move on to hold various managerial positions in the finance and operations departments before joining the COO office of global markets and being appointed head of operations for global banking and investors solutions in 2014. 

She began her career in 1990 at Accenture’s consulting division.
